Confidence / noun: 1. The state of feeling certain about the truth of something. 2. A feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.
Confidence in yourself and your abilities is so important no matter what journey you’re on. If you don’t believe in or have confidence in yourself and what you’re doing, it will show. In the beginning it took me a minute to build my confidence regarding my newsletter and everything else I had going on and if I can tell or feel it, I know someone else can too. It doesn’t matter what stage you are in, you should always be confident in what you’re working on. Below I’m sharing 4 ways to build your confidence.
Build Your Confidence By Seeing Yourself How God See’s You
As humans it is too easy to get caught up in the way society and the world wants us to be. We try to please people by doing things that make them happy instead of doing things that we know make us happy and allow us to be our best self. Seeing yourself from the worlds point of view will always have you feeling like your lacking something. I know because I’ve gone through this. In order for me to shed the weight of the world, I had to uncover and begin to focus on the way God saw me. Focusing on the truth of God’s word allowed me to build my confidence. That confidence gives me the energy and courage to push through and do what I need to regardless of what it may look like to someone else. Some of my favorite scriptures for this are:
- Ephesians 2:10
- Matthew 5:14-16
- 1 Peter 2:9
- 2 Peter 1:3-4
- Colossians 2:10
Celebrate All Wins, Even Small Wins
Celebrate yourself sis! I know we all have BIG goals, BIG destinations and amazing things we want to do, but in order to keep your confidence up you have to celebrate yourself while you’re still on the journey. I mentioned in one of my Instagram posts that ALL of my projects, big or small mean a lot to me. Each of them is evidence that I CAN live the life I desire. The day I launched Daily Dose of Luxury I wasn’t sure what the journey would look like. To be almost 3 years in and checking things off of MY PERSONAL list of accomplishments has my confidence through the roof. Celebrate yourself when you get contacted by someone.
Celebrate yourself when someone tells you that you inspire them. You have to start taking a moment to acknowledge all of the wins that show up because the more you celebrate, the more that energy and the things you want come back to you. One way that I love acknowledging my wins is by writing them down in my Cloth & Paper agenda book. The inserts I chose have a space for victories and gratitude which makes it easy for me to find something positive to celebrate. Every day you celebrate yourself, your confidence grows as a result.
Do What Works FOR YOU
In order to build your confidence and truly start to believe in what you’ve got going on, you have to start doing what works for you, not what works for someone else. Everyone does what they do for their own reasons and goals. You will totally lack confidence if you are doing things based on the results of someone else. Would it be dope to have a flourishing Youtube Channel? Of course it would be, but I’ve perfected my craft on Instagram and that is what works for me, that is where my confidence shines. Maybe you’re amazing on Twitter or Facebook and that is where you truly shine. That is perfectly fine!
You don’t need to be everything to everyone and you don’t need to add stress to your life trying to keep up with the path of someone else. You build your confidence by excelling and getting better at the thing that you are passionate about. You build your confidence by excelling at what YOU are good at, not at what someone else is good at. You may not be equipped to take on what the next person is doing so always do what works for you and be confident in it.
Stop Desiring Other People’s Goals
You can be in the same industry as someone and not need to have their goals. How can you expect to build your confidence if you are trying to jump into someone else’s lane? There are plenty of content creators and bloggers, but each of us has different goals. Some people want to have courses and digital content, others want podcasts and clothing lines and some just want to work with their favorite brands. One thing I learned back in the Influencer Academy I took, just because someone is doing something or promoting something that works AMAZING for THEM, doesn’t mean that I need to do that.
Having clarity about what YOU want out of life and for your life is important. This is what will keep you from jumping into a lane you are not confident in. Is that person making a ton of money? Probably; does that look attractive for someone looking in from the outside? Of course, but if that isn’t what you are passionate about, then why desire that for yourself? Uncover your own goals, uncover your own reasoning and go after the things you have the most confidence in.
Great tips. I find celebrating small wins so hard and I don’t know why. I definitely need to do more of it!
You totally should. If you only wait for the big stuff, it will always feel like you are never getting anywhere or accomplishing anything. The small wins lead up to the big win. Celebrate yourself!
These are all great! I’m working on celebrating the smaller milestones rather than belittling their overa impact.

Thank you so much for reading Jacy! Definitely don’t belittle them, they carry us to our next big accomplishment. Plus if you don’t celebrate them it will most likely feel like you haven’t done anything when really you have! Stay encouraged!
I love your content! You are so inspiring. Celebrating all wins big or small are so important. Sometimes I make them not a big deal and you reminded me that it is a big deal and I should be celebrating! Ty!

Thank you so much for reading Ashley! It’s always a big deal and celebrating the little things helps us along the way to the bigger things. It’s so easy to feel like we’re not doing enough or a lot isn’t happening for us, but we just have to make time to notice the little things. You’re so welcome!
Wow!! Such a great and necessary read that just speaks so much necessary and eye-opening info & tips. Candidly speaking, I’m often complimented on my confidence but in reality, I have my personal struggles from not being as talented, my battle with acne, my big features (teeth, nose, feet) being wanted or enough. Sorry to vent but Numbers 2 & 3 SPOKE to me. Thank you!!
