Self Care: 3 Best Products For Oily Skin

The Holiday is over, I’m sure we both ate a lot but it’s a new week and that doesn’t mean it’s time to slack off on skincare. Today I’m talking all things Oily Skin. There are a million things out there for dry skin and sensitive skin but not a whole spread of options for us with oily skin. I have tried a ton of products and I feel like I’m just now finding my perfect skincare combination.

I have done a series of laser treatments (Clear + Brilliant through LaserAway) on my face to help brighten up my under eyes and lighten acne blemishes. From the moment that I received that treatment I promised myself I would take better care of my skin and do everything to maintain it. All of that said, below is a list of the products I currently use. These aren’t the only things I use but these are my first picks. Let me also say the products weren’t initially designed for oily skin; they were designed for acne, BUT because I have oily skin and blemishes I decided to try them anyway which led me to how I know they work well for oily skin.

Yes to Tomatoes !

This stuff right here. I had heard of the Yes to Carrots line but never used it because I was a faithful Neutrogena girl. I feel like I have tried just about all of Neutrogena’s products and they work. You probably thought I was going to say they don’t. Their products work great, but not forever. I’ve spent a lot of years searching for the right product that would serve me longer than 6 months and thanks to the Charcoal craze, I tried Yes to Tomatoes and it has been everything.

My First and favorite product I used. I obviously love them because they are black; it’s pretty sick to use black face wipes in my opinion. Outside of aesthetics though these wipes work SO good for my oily skin. They are damp enough where your makeup is removed but doesn’t leave your face wet after. They are significantly thicker in comparison to Neutrogena wipes which I love; think heavy duty and actually removes makeup. Since it is thicker I normally only need to use one, I do use both sides and just like that I’m makeup free. These wipes work SO good that I don’t even need to wash my face after use. Should I? Maybe. Do I need to, not at all.

My first night using the wipes I noticed how matte my skin was and how it remained that way throughout the remainder of the evening; even without makeup on my T-zone gets oily so to not have that experience was everything. Over the course of use I have noticed my skin change and I couldn’t be more happy with the results. My pores are much clearer, especially around my nose where most of the oil accumulates.

My blemishes have lightened up, the dark circles under my eyes have lightened and while there is still a bit to go as far as that the difference is incredible. I really wish I had before and after pictures, but knowing what I know about my skin and the issues I’ve had I know for a fact that out of all of the things I have used these wipes have definitely had a role in my skincare journey. That takes me to the next product I use and love.

Yes to Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturizer

Does it Work? Yes!

Good for: Oily Skin, Acne Prone Skin, Blemished Skin

Where to Buy: Target or Ulta

After my experience with the wipes I needed a new moisturizer and for some reason I cannot think of what I was using before. Anyway I started using this moisturizer and again has been great for my oily skin. It is light and gives me the moisture I need without making my skin feel oily. The reason I gave the quality a 4 out of 5 is because I’m pretty sure there is no SPF in it. Given the type of products that Yes To is creating (paraben free, all natural) I don’t imagine they would make it without it but it isn’t clearly listed on the package. Nonetheless I haven’t had any issues or felt like my skin hasn’t been properly protected. Having used products with SPF including Oil of Olay, I didn’t always feel like my skin was protected. I feel like my blemishes never improved. So with that said I’m sticking with this. Lastly my new favorite face wash is below.

Yes to Tomatoes Dual Cleansing Charcoal Cleaner

Cost: $

Quality: 5 out of 5

Amount of Product in Package?: 5 out of 5

Does it Work?: Yes

Good for: Oily Skin, Acne Prone Skin, Blemished Skin

Where to Buy: Target or Ulta

I finally got my hands on the Dual Cleansing Charcoal Cleaner and I couldn’t be happier. To start you don’t need a lot. You only need a drop about the size of a nickel, maybe more if you’re skin isn’t already makeup free. It has bio-degradable jajoba scrubbies in it; since I have oily skin I prefer a scrub over a regular wash. I also prefer my scrubs to be a bit thicker and harsher and while this scrub isn’t harsh (for me) I do feel like it meets my needs in that area.

The cleanser itself; my skin has never felt as clean as it does after using this product. I had posted on my instastories not too long ago my skin and how it looked after using the products. I used all 3 of the things I’ve mentioned and not only was my skin amazing all day, not an ounce of oil was breaking through my pores. I didn’t have to blot, wipe, tissue, nothing. That same day I went to brunch, walked, had a drink, just did stuff that normally causes my skin to do what it does and much to my surprise I was oil free.

I do only use this once a day for the time being because my LBW’s work so good that I don’t need to wash my face after makeup removal. If you are looking for a new skincare regimen and want to try something totally out of the norm, I highly recommend Yes To products. They have an array of lines for all types of skin, I know you will find something for you. I’ll be sharing about their new products dropping in in the new year and venturing over to Yes To Grapefruit so definitely stay tuned.
