The Best of Oily Skin Hydration Serums

Hydration serums have literally changed my life. I used to do everything to avoid products I thought would make my skin more oily. But, my skin was oily because it was thirsty.

It wasn’t until I started using Summer Fridays Dream Oasis Hydration Serum. My skin thrived with a hydration serum and I’ve been hooked ever since. As I explore more brands and try new serums, this list will grow so make sure you come back. Let’s get into my top 3 hydration serums.

Hydration Serums

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Hydration Serum

Price: $$, Quantity: 9/10 , Packaging: 9/10

The Dream Oasis serum, re-branded as the Jet Lag Deep Hydration serum, joins the Jet Lag line. It’s light, not sticky, creamy, but not thin. It isn’t heavy to me and sometimes I use more than I need to. She’s my OG. I enjoy how I can feel the difference. My face and feels quenched. It’s my most used serum. I go through it quickly using it day and night, but I love it that much and can feel the difference when I don’t use it.

As of right now this is and remains in the number one spot for me. However, this next one was surprised me.

RoC Skincare Hydration+ Serum

Price: $$, Quantity: 9/10, Packaging: 9/10

I was gifted by RoC Skincare the Hydration+ Serum as well as the Hydration+ Moisturizer. Both have hyaluronic acid and collagen proteins. I didn’t expect to love this as much as I do, as quickly as I did. It’s light, soaks into your skin so beautifully. But it’s vastly different than Jet Lag and Moisture Surge Glow Serum.

This is simply delicious skincare. This hydration serum is the most water like which my skin loves. It’s noticeably fresh and plump and my skin looks so good. I judge skincare by a number of things. The ability to wear well under makeup with my other products that I usually use is a priority for me. This hydration serum, in tandem with the moisturizer, and the rest of my skincare routine prepped my skin the best. My makeup looked great, so that’s really helpful.

It’s more affordable than I expected. This truly works and feels like a serum at or above the $50 mark. This cost less than Summer Fridays, but has a lot to offer. For hydration serums, I look for ones that reduce the appearance of my forehead smile lines. Keep that area bouncy and hydrated since I’m not doing botox. I really really like this. That thinner consistency really does something; it doesn’t sit on your skin. This is my first experience with RoC skincare, but definitely won’t be my last.

Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum

Price: $-$$$, Quantity: 8.5/10 , Packaging: 8.5/10

I was gifted by Clinique the Moisture Surge serum. I’ve been using the serum since the end of February, early March. Off the bat I can say it does what it’s supposed to do. The serum is thicker in consistency compared to RoC, but about the same as Summer Fridays.

It comes in its signature Clinique style packaging which isn’t bad. There are 2 sizes, 1 oz and 1.7 oz. If you’re really planning to use a serum day and night, I would splurge on the larger bottle. However, the 1 oz is fine as well. Like the other brands, there are full hydration lines and the Moisture Surge serum has a face spray and moisturizer. I would try the moisturizer and spray, but this hydration serum works great on it’s own.

At this point hydration serums are just as important as my lip products are. Understanding my oily skin, realizing I wasn’t properly hydrating it. When you know better, you can do better. Now you’ll never catch me without a hydration serum, face oil, eye cream. All the foundational things that lead to a great skin in the long run.

I look forward to growing this list with you. Share your recommendations too!
