Don’t you want to upgrade your lifestyle? I think we all do, but none of us want to bust the budget. The great thing is there is nothing wrong with having a budget; whether you are saving for a home or saving for a wedding, keeping with your budget isn’t a bad thing. I love thinking about the ways I’ve upgraded my own lifestyle especially while we wait for renovations and home updates and of course I had to share.

It’s not what the circumstance is, it’s my reaction to it; this is one thing I’ve been telling myself since we’ve been advised to stay home and that really inspired me to improve what I’ve got while I wait for what is coming. That said below are 19 ways to upgrade your lifestyle on a budget.

19 Ways to Upgrade Your Lifestyle on a Budget

Home Edits To Upgrade Your Lifestyle On a Budget

Update Storage Containers + Tupperware

Upgrading your tupperware from plastic to glass is such a major upgrade. I don’t know about you all, but being able to see what’s in my containers, as well as being able to use them for re-heating is worth the upgrade. It’s aesthetically pleasing and if you use the microwave often you won’t burn/melt the meal inside of them into the plastic itself. If you cook a lot or meal prep, glass containers are a beautiful way to upgrade your lifestyle on a budget.

Use Your Nice Glasses or Buy Some

If you already have nice glasses use them. Ya’ll know I love a good beverage in my wine glass, it’s such a lifestyle upgrade when you realize how much better your coffee, juice or water taste when it’s in a wine glass. If you don’t have any, Home Goods or Target are good options for a nice but affordable set of glasses.

Reorganize Your Cabinets

What’s your shelfie look like? Putting certain things on shelves by product type or organizing by snacks and things of that nature are a fun way to customize and make a system for your goodies.

Upgrade Your Shower Routine + Body Wash

Ya’ll already know I upgraded my shower routine the last few weeks and it was absolutely worth the decision and such a practical way to upgrade my lifestyle on a budget.

Update Your Pillows and Bedding

Sleep is something I love and definitely make sure I get. Having a good pillow is just as important. Ikea has the best memory foam pillows in my opinion for the best price too and they last SO long. Upgrade your pillows, change the sheets, update your blankets. Upgrading your pillows and bedding is a way to upgrade your lifestyle on a budget.

Fashion Edits

Start Your Capsule Wardrobe

Tired of trying to keep up with fast fashion? Now is a good time to start your capsule wardrobe. Staples and basics that wear well with multiple things and transition through multiple seasons. Denim, leather pieces and heavy textures are perfect for long term choices to upgrade your lifestyle on a budget. You’ll absolutely get your money’s worth.

Shop Your Closet

For those of you that have an expansive wardrobe, there is definitely somethings you’ve forgotten. Go through your closet and see what you haven’t worn in a while; whatever you find is basically new.

Get Your Favorite Shoes Repaired

Instead of buying a new pair of shoes, get your favorite shoes repaired so you can wear them longer. Literally the most budget friendly way to upgrade your lifestyle. I have some shoes that I have worn and they need the heels replaced and it’s like $9/pair which is such a steal especially for the shoes that cost way more than that. It’s like a little tune up for your feet.

Buy Second Hand or Shop Sales

You get to upgrade your lifestyle on whatever budget you have. One way to do that is by shopping sales, actual sales, not just a few dollars off and by shopping second hand. There are certain things that I do want first hand, but the truth is, no one knows that you bought something second hand. It’s okay that it’s a little worn in, there are so many options for second hand purchases that some are brand new. Point is you don’t have to bust the budget over this.

Declutter / Purge

Real lifestyle upgrades come by way of removing and getting rid of things. Sometimes we think it’s only about adding to, when decluttering and removing things is just as important. This isn’t limited to your closet, but if you plan to purchase things, make some room by shedding the old.

Lifestyle Edits

Drink More Water

Speaking of drinking more water, it’s time for me get a new one. Getting the right amount of water daily is super important and something that I’m working hard on. I leave a cup full of water in the fridge ready to go when I need it and will be replacing my Hydroflask soon.

Try A New Bottle of Wine

My favorite way to upgrade your lifestyle on a budget is by trying a new wine. Something that is a few years old, something that you may not typically lean toward; this is how I ended up finding out that I loved Cabernet Sauvignon’s.

Upgrade Body Care Routine

I’ve been loving Necessaire’s Body Oil, it’s such a good change up for the warm weather. Taking care of my body and not just my face has become super important for me. Using a body oil that is rich in vitamins, cold pressed and organic, is something that you deserve. All of the ways to take care of yourself before you have to engage with the world.

Upgrade to Chanel Cotton Pads

Cotton pads and disposables for drying your face are essential. You need them so you might as well get some cute Chanel ones because they are such a steal, they are super thick and it’s a such a simple little luxury that literally will upgrade your lifestyle on a budget

Shop At The Farmers Market

It’s the farm to fork for me. Shopping at Farmer’s Market and/or supporting crop swaps is a great way to get fresh produce. I do trust the grocery stores that I go to, but being able to support at the source is really nice and something we do intentionally. Along with that, putting fresh fruit into nice containers or dishes makes everything stand out and in my opinion feel more desirable to eat.

Luxury Edits to Upgrade Your Lifestyle on a Budget

Buy a nice nail polish

If there is one thing I don’t skimp on, it’s a good nail polish. Good nail polish and a self mani or pedi is my most regular way to upgrade my lifestyle on a budget. I have really nice fuzzy slippers so I like my toes to be pretty and pedicured. The reason why I have to do it so much (which ends up feeling like a regular appointment) because my slippers are black and the polish ends up being dyed over the course of wear. Saying all of that to say every 2 weeks I “get a pedicure”.

Upgrade your lip care

I’m gonna Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm ya’ll to death. You deserve good lip care and what that means or what brand that is, is subjective, but all I’m saying is LBB is the best. Every time I put on lip butter my vibe is instantly upgraded, my lips are instantly buttery and shiny and I’m a happy girl.

Visit Open Houses

Desiring a home? Not quite in the market yet? Go to open houses. You don’t have to divulge your financial information to the realtor, but going to open houses and looking at layouts and furniture reminds and encourages me that I can upgrade my lifestyle on a budget. Maybe what you see isn’t your ideal home, but taking elements from the homes you see can encourage design in your current and/or future space.

Go to a Fancy Happy Hour

On a budget, but want to get cocktails with the girls? Go to a good happy hour at a really nice place. It used to be harder to hit a happy hour while we were working in person, but heading to a cute spot on a early Friday evening is a small way to upgrade your lifestyle on a budget.  Toca Madera which is such a vibe has a great weekend happy hour.

Great list Jazmyn! I had never thought about getting my shoes repaired. I broke the strap on my favorite heels that I had got for a steal and was so sad to get rid of them. Now I’m thinking I should have gotten them repaired! Love the idea of purging also, I need to do more of that. Also love looking at new houses, even though I have a great house I love to get inspired by seeing new decor ideas.

Thank you so much Ebony! You’re not the only one, there are some shoes that I’m like why didn’t I fix them. I definitely have a lot of shoes I like and want to get more wear out of these days so repairing is for sure my go to. Yes to all of that, it’s always the decor ideas that get me. Thanks so much for reading!
