My Current Nighttime Skincare Routine

New nighttime skincare routine, who dis? Earlier this year I started getting facials, but the pandemic quickly shut that down and since then I’ve been treading lightly on the skincare products I use. I’ve only used 3 brands this year, each during different seasons and as the weather changes so does my skin so it has been important for me to find brands that work based on that time of year and hopefully beyond.

If you have been keeping up with me on Instagram, I started using Summer Fridays back in August. I purchased the Lip Butter Balm and the Jet Lag Mask because the hype around it hadn’t died down and at the time I needed a new lip balm so I figured I would throw the mask in too. At the end of September I was sent the Everything Set which is the entire line of products (minus the mask and butter balm which I already have) and I have to say Summer Fridays continues to impress me. I have to give major credit to Marianna Hewitt and her business partner Lauren Gores Ireland because they really outdid themselves with this brand and their products. I’m also excited to share my nighttime routine because right now we’re doing a give-a-way together and ONE WINNER will receive a YEAR’S WORTH of Overtime Masks (that’s 6 masks total). All of that said lets get into my new nighttime skincare routine.

My Current Nighttime Skincare Routine

Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser

I have oily skin so having a specific daytime and nighttime skincare routine is important already and for me that starts with a good cleanser. I prefer gel cleansers, that was recommended to me when I started getting facials, and the Super Amino Gel Cleanser is a gel cleanser that works beyond the surface. My first reaction: I loved that it is comes in a glass bottle, I’m really into the whole experience of the products I use so that was something I enjoyed. My second reaction, while using it is “it doesn’t lather a ton, do I need more?” but after doing my 60 seconds with it, it seemed to absorb instead of just stay on the top of my skin and my skin felt very clean. I use about 3-4 pumps and that seems to do the job for me. I noticed when I don’t have my wedding band/ring on it lathers a bit more.

I haven’t been wearing makeup lately so I can’t speak to how clean my skin feels after makeup, but I wouldn’t use this initially to wash my face if I had makeup on. The way this works on my skin without makeup is something that I want to focus on so my skin can get all of the benefits from it. So I’ll report back after a makeup day. Other than that I’m really enjoying how clean and oil free my skin feels and looks after use and I’m happy this is now apart of my nighttime skincare routine.

Summer Fridays AHA Soft Reset

The AHA Soft Reset toner is specifically a nighttime skincare routine product and the first day I received the Everything Set I couldn’t wait to use it. Similar to what I mentioned in the previous section I haven’t been wearing makeup so this is just my experience on my skin as is. The soft reset comes in a glass bottle, which I enjoy and it has a little suction cap thing to keep product in so nothing gets wasted.

The AHA Soft Reset is designed to exfoliate, reduce the appearance of pores and brighten skin. It contains a solution of 16% AHAs which is designed to lift dead skin and refine skin texture. As someone with oily skin this works instantly. I’m SUPER cautious about liquid peels and exfoliants and have never been one to try all the things because I’m a scared of the fall out, but this is really so good. I often times have to wake up in the middle of the night to take my dog out and like such when I did I touched my face and it was SO soft; naturally I checked again in the morning when I woke up and the results were the same. My face was oil free, smooth and my pores were significantly reduced, no exaggeration.

Out of the entire nighttime skincare routine, the AHA Soft Reset is what I look forward to the most because it genuinely works. Even if for some reason you decided you didn’t want or need the whole line, the AHA soft reset is definitely a solid addition to your nighttime skincare routine. I use this about 3-5 times a week and it really depends on my skin. I normally do 3 days straight and then take a 1 day break in between; this is designed to be used nightly though, it is very gentle.

Face Reality Acne Moisturizer or Summer Fridays Jet Leg Mask

A moisturizer is an important part of your skincare routine, daytime or nighttime so I bounce between my moisturizer from Face Reality which is specifically for acne prone skin or I use my Jet Lag Mask (a heavier layer) for overnight moisturizing.

I use my Jet Lag mask in my nighttime skincare routine when my skin really feels dehydrated and I need the bounce back for the next day and to reduce the use of my Face Reality moisturizer which you can only get from an esthetician. I also enjoy using my Jet Lag mask  because it’s actually part of the routine the Summer Friday’s created.

Kaike Lip Scrub

The perfect scrub for daytime or nighttime, but when I want my lips to be really conditioned, I scrub and then apply my Summer Friday’s Lip Butter Balm.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

Also a part of the Everything Set, the Lip Butter Balm is what sold me on Summer Fridays as a brand. It’s so buttery, the vanilla scent is just right, it’s shiny. I love it, my lips love it and it completes my current nighttime skincare routine.

This has been my favorite nighttime routine thus far, so I’m really looking forward to keeping this going and seeing what my continued results are. I love that everything works together and/or in tandem. The Summer Fridays line as of right now from my own personal use, is great for oily skin. Super grateful for these well thought out skincare goodies.

These products look soo good! I love the packaging. I definitely have to try these. Very happy you have oily skin (as do I) because now I know there is a higher chance my skin will enjoy the products.
