Events: Brkn Chat LA

If you’re following me on the gram, you know I’m still posting pictures from Brkn Chat LA simply because the venue, Base Coat Nail Salon was everything AND this was my first event as a speaker. Brkn Chat LA was an intimate event encouraging women to ignite their purpose journey. Myself and 5 other ladies were asked questions regarding our respective journeys and industries and what we had to do and who we had to be to overcome those things, all while being blessed with a pedicure.

The event was beautiful along with the venue, it was sponsored by Boxed Water, Love N Good Lips and Kaike. Make sure you check them out and give them a follow. We also had these yummy treats that I hope to find again one day.

I’m not going to fully disclose what was discussed because you should have been there to hear all of the goodies, but this event was really special to me. Not only was I personally stepping into a space that I prayed for as a figure or authority in my own right, but hearing everyone else’s circumstances and situations always puts things into perspective in your own life. You hear about what people had to do or leave behind; where they had to move, how much money they had or lack thereof.

Events like these are truly eye opening whether attending or speaking because you get a chance to acknowledge your experiences, and as a speaker, it was nice to realize that my experiences weren’t in vain or only for me. Things that we go through and deal with that frustrate us or overwhelm us in the moment aren’t always about us. They happen to us, yes, but often times it’s to encourage and share with someone else who is experiencing the same thing.

I won’t lie I was nervous, not because I cared what people thought or think, but because I want to make an impact and make a good impression and sometimes you only have one shot. As someone that was was selected for this panel, I wanted to make sure that I left something with the ladies who attended; that hopefully they were encouraged to go after their own dreams or goals and not be afraid to do it regardless of circumstance. So grateful that little ol’ me is able to make a difference in the world.

Lastly I want to say it’s really important to own who you are but also be nice to others. I met the founder and event host A’darah just a little over a year ago at a book signing event that she was hosting. When I first met her I was still in the space of event planning and definitely really going toward that. Fast forward to 2018 and I’m doing something completely different, but doing it in a way that has people paying attention, including the ones that met me when I was in a different space.

#DontQuitYourDayDream is more than just a hashtag for me, it really is a reminder to hold fast to what you are called to do and what fires you up because it will really benefit you in the long run. Enjoy the pictures.
