Last year I prayed to have the freedom and flexibility to attend more events; I wanted to be at the events as a guest and actually be in the mix meeting people.
Anyone that knows me knows I love food and enjoy eating, but those that really know me, know I LOVE brunch.
Chop it Sundays is a once a month event hosted by Jaimi Alexander, (who has such an incredible vibe and spirit about her) centering around brunch and amazing individuals in that space. This particular Sunday my girls Brielle Galakovic and Jacklyn Sweet were 2 of the 4 hosts and I knew that I could not miss out on this get together.
Brielle is the founder of The Gilded Bellini
@thegildedbelini an LA based blog talking all things brunch. She takes you with her to the hottest and most sought after spots in the LA and surrounding areas. She also gives you the scoop on how to dress depending on where you’re going. I had been following her on Instagram for a while, totally inspired by her and ended up meeting her in person at an event that I co-founded called Passion 2 Paycheck and literally went for brunch the weekend after.
Jacklyn@jacklynsweetis a lifestyle blogger sharing things around her love for fitness, style, travel, being fabulous and eating at all of the hottest spots. I started following her on Instagram because she hosted Sweet Life Sundays, usually at yoga spot or at Soul Cycle and I was here for the fitness vibes. I met her in person when she was the guest blogger/host for an event called Sip & Sweat hosted by my girl Alice Foy of Jane Ella Co.
It’s safe to say they know their brunch, fitness and fashion and again I could not pass up the opportunity to sip mimosas and brunch with them BOTH at the same time.
All 3 of us were early and on time (my kind of girls) and immediately began to get things rolling. From getting our food on the gram to toasting our lives away, there is nothing more fun than being in a space with people who do similar things with their own twist. My favorite thing about being a blogger and being in the lifestyle space is being around others that do the same thing. It’s a mutual feeling of “I get it”.
We all like to overdress, eat good food and sip yummy cocktails all while being photographed and or doing the picture taking.
People ALWAYS want to know how I go to events like this or get connected with people like this and the first answer is social media. There are A TON of things going on in the LA area that you are 2 clicks away from finding out about. The second answer is I support those who support me, if I know the host of an event or a friend is speaking, I will do my VERY BEST to get there and support; that is really how a lot of opportunities unfold in the grand scheme of things. Most of my opportunities or opportunities that I extend out are to the very people I know. Support your friends and they will support you, and if they don’t, it’s okay to get new friends.
So stay tuned for Chop It Up Sunday’s, make sure you connect and get plugged in with all of these ladies because they definitely know what is going on in LA. Also don’t be afraid to go places by yourself, that has also worked in my favor; you meet new people, foster new relationships and let it all grow from there.
